Economic stimulus money in Vermont (Vermont Public Radio)

April 1, 2009

Vermont appears to be doing pretty well so far in the economic stimulus sweepstakes. There's about $720 million coming our way through various Federal formulas, and several hundred million dollars more possible in grants that will be awarded competitively. Our guest is Tom Evslin. He's the retired high-tech entrepreneur and one-time Transportation Secretary who's been tapped by Governor Douglas as the state's Chief Recovery Officer. Vermont Edition asks the so-called "stimulus czar" about what we can expect from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Also on the program, we talk with Dr. Paula Green, an international peace worker and professor at Brattleboro's SIT Graduate School. Green will be honored next month as an "Unsung Hero of Compassion" by the Dalai Lama.
