Senator Sanders is proud to work to ensure that Congress provides the federal benefits that our veterans were promised when they put on the uniform in service of this country. Bernie knows that Congress must do more to provide the funding needed to make these programs available to all veterans and to make it easier for veterans to access the benefits they have earned. As always, if you are a Vermont veteran in need of assistance with a federal agency, our office may be able to help.
The Department of Veterans Affairs, along with the Departments of Education, Labor, and Housing and Urban Development, all have programs designed specifically to meet the needs of veterans. Click the tab below to learn more about any of these agencies or to be directed to their websites.

Veterans Affairs
The Department of Veterans Affairs is second largest department of the federal government and houses the nation’s largest integrated health care system. From health care to disability compensation to burial benefits, the VA’s mission is to care for those “who shall have borne the battle” and for their families and survivors. The full complement of VA services can be found on their website at www.va.gov. For specific information on health care, benefits, or burial services, visit the agency homepages at:

Education and Employment
Senator Sanders believes that every veteran in this country deserves the best education and job training available to them when they separate from the military, or any time they may need it. Whether a veteran is looking to complete or earn a college degree, obtain career training, or find a job, Senator Sanders knows that the VA, Department of Education and Department of Labor, must be available to help.
In partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Education offers a host of educational benefits for veterans and members of the military. To learn more, visit here.
Similarly, the U.S. Department of Labor offers programs and services specifically designed for veterans, including job training and vocational rehabilitation. To learn more, visit: here.
Housing and Urban Development
Senator Sanders knows that every veteran and their family deserves a safe, affordable place to live and is proud to support federal programs like HUD-VASH and SSVF and GPD. Senator Sanders will continue to fight for funding for Department of Housing and Urban Development programs that serve veterans, including the VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH), Grant and Per Diem (GPD), and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) programs.
