“Senator Sanders hosted a town meeting in St. Albans to discuss issues facing Department of Homeland Security employees in Vermont. More than one hundred people showed up at the St. Albans Historical Museum on the evening of Wednesday, October 10, 2007 to voice their concerns, give their opinions, and hear from local and national labor leaders as well as Senator Sanders. These employees are facing low morale, high turnover and attacks from the Bush administration, which wants to replace federal workers with private contractors and continues to eliminate positions along the northern border despite ever-increasing spending on homeland security.”
