WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 – Senate and House negotiators agreed today to provide much-needed disaster assistance for Vermont. The agreement on funds to repair roads and bridges destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene sets the stage for final congressional passage of the measure later this week: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement today:
“This is an important step toward providing Vermont the help it needs and deserves to rebuild roads and bridges washed out by Hurricane Irene. I hope Congress will now finish its job this week so communities in Vermont and other states devastated by the flooding may continue their recovery.”
