Infrastructure is the backbone of our communities and our economy – yet year after year, we underinvest in our aging roads and bridges, drinking and wastewater systems, rail and public transit, dams and levees, electric grid and broadband, and more. While Vermont is in better shape than many other states, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave our national infrastructure a dismal grade of D+. That is why I have called for a $1 trillion investment in our infrastructure over five years, which would make the country safer, more efficient and more productive. And, it would create nearly 15 million jobs in the process.
