WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement Tuesday after Senate Republicans announced there would not be a vote on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act before the Sept. 30 budget reconciliation deadline:
“Today, the American people won a major victory. We have stopped another disastrous Republican proposal which would have thrown millions of Americans off health care, cut Medicaid by a trillion dollars, raised premiums for older workers and defunded Planned Parenthood. But we all know that the status quo isn’t good enough. Now is the time to aggressively go forward in joining the rest of the industrialized world by guaranteeing health care to every American through a Medicare-for-all program.”
