Statement on EPA Power Plant Rules

BURLINGTON, Vt., Sept. 20 – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a member of the Senate environment and energy committees, issued the following statement today on the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to limit emissions from new power plants:

“I applaud the EPA for coming up with common-sense standards to reduce the carbon pollution that causes global warming. Much more must be done to avoid a planetary crisis, but reducing emissions from dirty coal-fired power plants is a good step toward dealing with the man-made causes of climate change and the catastrophic consequences that scientists have warned us about.”
