“Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser joined Senator Bernie Sanders at a town meeting in Burlington on food – who grows it, what it costs, where it comes from and why Vermont “”which has this great long history of agriculture,”” as Schlosser put it “”is in the avant-garde in this country of moving into a truly sustainable agricultural economy.”” Added Sanders, “”This state is probably in the forefront of a movement to a new type of agriculture, not a corporate agriculture, not an industrial agriculture, but an agriculture that’s concerned about localism, good quality food, supporting our family farmers, and making sure that the food that we eat is affordable.”” Several hundred people turned out at Burlington City Hall for the town meeting.”
