AUSTIN, Texas, April 1 – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today denounced measures in Indiana and Arkansas that could allow discrimination against gay couples.
“It is important that the American people stand together and end bigotry once and for all. We have fought to end discrimination based on race, creed and color. Now is the time, once and for all, to end discrimination based on sexual orientation.
“I applaud the American people for making it clear to the governor of Indiana and lawmakers in Arkansas that they are on the wrong side of history and their policies must change,” Sanders added.
The senator commented on the controversy during a stop in Texas that is part of a four-state trip focused on economic issues, income inequality and the decline of the middleclass.
