The State of Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs provides assistance to Vermont veterans applying for health care, disability compensation, tuition assistance, burial benefits, as well as a host of other specialized benefits, uniquely designed for recently separated veterans, disabled veterans, women, veterans at risk of homelessness, and military retirees.Â
Vermont Veterans Outreach Program
Senator Sanders is proud to have worked with the Vermont National Guard to develop the Veterans Outreach Program, which works closely with local community officials, business leaders, clergy, health care providers, and other community-based social organizations to address the needs of veterans and their families.
"It is no secret that many of our soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are forced to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries," Sen. Sanders said. "We're all in this together, and we've got to stand not only with the soldiers in combat, but with their kids and their wives and their husbands."

Vermont veterans can receive care at the White River Junction VA Medical Center or one of seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics serving the state. Senator Sanders knows that VA health care providers – many of whom are veterans themselves – are well-positioned to meet the unique needs of veterans. Services include everything from primary care services to more specialized treatment for illnesses and injuries related to military service, like burn pit exposure, PTSD, TBI, and overuse injuries.

Senator Sanders knows that every veteran and their family deserves a safe, affordable place to live and is proud to support federal programs like HUD-VASH and SSVF and GPD.
