Vermonters: Racism exists here. Full stop. It is incumbent upon each of us to educate ourselves and actively work to create anti-racist communities. I thank each and every Vermonter who has shared their experience and who is doing the necessary work to truly make Vermont a welcoming place for all. The brutal shooting of Jacob Blake and the continued protests occurring in every corner of our country, including in Vermont, is a clear call for action. I stand with all who are demanding justice and an end to the horrors of systemic racism and police brutality. Congress must work to end the horrific violence perpetrated at alarming rates against Black Americans.
